We feel privileged to offer a superb example of this iconic supercar, the only classic 911 Turbo currently available for hire in the UK.

Launched in 1974, the original 3.0 Turbo had 260bhp, and rewrote the supercar rulebook. Here was a car that offered outrageous performance, yet in a reliable, high quality, practical package. In 1977 the engine was upped to 3.3 litres, with power up to 300bhp, and the car continued to sell strongly in this guise throughout the 1980s, fuelled by a booming economy and an emerging "yuppie" culture.

20 years on, the 911 Turbo is still a mightily impressive sports car. Compact in size, the build quality endures, and the car feels surprisingly docile and smooth at first. Keep accelerating though, and as the tacho needle sweeps past 3500rpm, the KKK turbo wakes up, and the rest of the world starts to move backwards at a serious pace! Equipped with a 4 speed gearbox right through to 1989 (no 5 speeders were considered strong enough), the 911 Turbo can reach 60mph in 1st, and nearly 100mph in 2nd. Needless to say, the brakes (from the 917 racer) are equally up to the job.
